Why no, as a matter of fact I don’t care
A surprising number of readers have e-mailed in to ask why I haven’t written about the hurricane tropical storm currently doing a number on my own home state. Some of the inquiries have been downright testy.
Look, guys: There is nothing anybody can do about a hurricane tropical storm, okay? It’s gonna rain for a while, it’s gonna be windy. Depending on how things go, there might be a little property damage or whole cities might be wiped out. We don’t know, and there’s essentially no way to predict.
So why sit at home, glued to the TV, getting all agitated? Yes, it’s raining. It’s going to rain a lot in some places. Yes, it’s even pretty bad if you happen to live in one of those places. But where I live, it’s partly cloudy and 86° outside. So why should I stress about it?
If you want to blog every single development in the hurricane tropical storm on your own Web site, please be my guest. But just understand that some of us prefer to do other things than bite our nails and worry about things we simply cannot change. And by “we” there, of course, I mean “I.”
